Thank you for visiting. Embedded herein is a sampling of video performances of enduring music -- some of which is over 300 years old, but still sounds as fresh today as the day it was published -- by some of my favorite artists, past and present. If you are a music aficianado these selections will be familiar; if you are new to music, particularly from the Baroque and Classical eras, you are in for a special treat. Put simply, it is -- to my mind at least -- a gift to be able to view performances such as these; while I do not know personally the individuals who made these clips available, I tacitly thank them each time I watch one.

The documentaries section of this site features miscellaneous video clips (a BBC music history piece about Bach, for example), interviews, movies, and related footage of well known musical personalities, particularly Glenn Gould. Much of the material about Gould was archived until 2006, and provides insight into the mind of this remarkable and complex performer and musician.

I also have included some audio files (mp3s) of recordings of performances of Bach's English Suite #5 (BWV810), one of my favorite of his solo keyboard works (and in some fundamental ways structurally analogous to the drupal CMS itself); please click on the links to the left to navigate to those pages.

The material on this site (which runs off the same installation, but a discrete set of database tables, as that which powers my development site home page) is organized using drupal's book module -- an outstanding and quite powerful script that is packaged in drupal core. I am using a simple media embedding filter for the video, and the outstanding drupal audio module. The Gould, Schiff, Di Bonaventura, Pollini, Barbosa, and Kempff audio pages are dynamically generated with the Views module. Similarly, the Audio by artist and the Videos by artist pages are dynamically created and displayed using a combination of the Panels, Views, and Quicktab modules.
