Some incredible video footage of Gould playing the first movement of Bach's Concerto in G Minor, BWV 1058, with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. His playing is brilliant, even as more of Gould's idiosyncratic movements -- for which he was ridiculed by audiences and critics alike -- are evident in this video. He is singing along with the orchestra, but the sound has somehow been edited out of this particular video recording.

Karl Richter, whose recording of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto 4 was sent aboard the Voyager spacecraft in 1977, conducts the Munchener Bach-Orchester in this 1970 performance of the Brandenburg Number 1, composed about 1717. (Unfortunately I have been unable to find a video of the 4th movement of this magnificent work as conducted by Richter.) It is, for me, difficult to believe that this music is just 9 years shy of 300 years old.
